Rat Synaptophysin (Syp) ELISA Kit

This colorimetric sandwich ELISA kit from Assay Genie is designed for the quantitative measurement of rat Synaptophysin (Syp), a major synaptic vesicle protein also known as p38. The assay is validated for use with rat serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell culture supernates and other biological fluids, and shows specificity for natural and recombinant rat Synaptophysin.

Reported performance characteristics include a detection range of 0.78–50 ng/mL, a sensitivity of 0.418 ng/mL, an intra-assay CV of 5.0% and an inter-assay CV of 9.5%. Spiked recovery in serum averaged 108% (range 102–114%) and in plasma averaged 110% (range 104–116%). Synaptophysin is described as possibly involved in organizing synaptic vesicle membrane components and in short-term and long-term synaptic plasticity, and is localised to the synaptic vesicle membrane and synaptosome. The kit includes a dismountable microplate, lyophilised standard, sample and assay diluents, detection reagents, wash buffer, substrate and stop solution, and is intended for research use only.
