Description

From Assay Genie, this sandwich ELISA kit (double antibody) is intended for the quantitative detection of Synapsin-1 (SYN1) in rat samples. According to the UniProt annotation supplied with the product, SYN1 is a neuronal phosphoprotein that associates with the cytoplasmic surface of synaptic vesicles, with described roles in the regulation of neurotransmitter release, axonogenesis and synaptogenesis; mutations have been associated in the literature with X-linked disorders featuring primary neuronal degeneration, including Rett syndrome.

Reported performance figures include a sensitivity of 18.75pg/ml and a working range of 31.25-2000pg/ml. Spike-and-recovery in serum was 86-105% (average 98%), in EDTA plasma 87-101% (average 94%), and in UFH plasma 96-101% (average 99%). Linearity by serial dilution from 1:2 to 1:8 was 85-105% in serum, 84-101% in EDTA plasma, and 80-98% in UFH plasma. Precision was reported as intra-assay CV <8% and inter-assay CV <10%. The cited molecular weight of the target protein is 77kDa and the UniProt accession is P09951.

The kit is supplied for research use only and is stored at 4°C for 6 months. The supplied protocol covers collection and processing steps for serum, EDTA or heparin plasma, urine, cerebrospinal fluid, cell culture supernatants, cell lysates, tissue homogenates, tissue lysates and breast milk. The procedure uses a biotinylated detection antibody, an SABC working solution, TMB substrate and a stop solution, with absorbance read at 450 nm.
