Rat Sulfite oxidase, mitochondrial (Suox) ELISA Kit

This colorimetric sandwich ELISA from Assay Genie is designed for the quantitative measurement of sulfite oxidase, mitochondrial (Suox) in rat samples. Intended for research use only, the kit detects both natural and recombinant rat sulfite oxidase.

The assay accepts serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell culture supernates and other biological fluids. It operates over a detection range of 0.156–10 ng/mL with a sensitivity of 0.078 ng/mL. Suox is a homodimer localised to the mitochondrial intermembrane space that acts as an oxidoreductase (EC 1.8.3.1) catalysing the oxidation of sulfite to sulfate, a reaction requiring a molybdenum cofactor.

Dysregulation of sulfite oxidase activity is linked to isolated sulfite oxidase deficiency (ISOD, also known as sulfocysteinuria), a condition characterised by neurological abnormalities including multicystic leukoencephalopathy with brain atrophy, while broader roles include sulfur compound metabolism, nitrate assimilation and response to nutrient. The protein has a molecular weight of 60,806 Da and is catalogued under UniProt entry Q07116.
