A quantitative immunoassay from Assay Genie, this kit measures Succinate Dehydrogenase Complex Subunit A (SDHA) in rat tissue homogenates. SDHA, the flavoprotein A subunit of mitochondrial Complex II, sits at the intersection of the TCA cycle and the electron transport chain, where it catalyzes the oxidation of succinate to fumarate. Researchers working on mitochondrial bioenergetics, metabolic disease models, and tumor metabolism routinely track SDHA abundance as a proxy for mitochondrial mass and Complex II integrity.

The kit is supplied as a complete set of reagents in a microplate pre-configured for 96 assays, including standards and buffers needed to generate a calibration curve and quantify unknown samples. Each well produces a colorimetric signal that scales with SDHA concentration, allowing straightforward interpolation against a purified SDHA standard series.

Because Complex II dysfunction is implicated in paraganglioma, Leigh syndrome, optic atrophy, and cardiomyopathy, this rat-reactive assay is frequently used in preclinical studies evaluating mitochondrial toxins, ischemic injury models, and metabolic interventions. SDHA also serves as a stable reference alongside more variable oxidative phosphorylation subunits, making the kit useful for normalization in comparative mitochondrial phenotyping.

Reagents should be stored refrigerated between uses, with the plate kept dry and protected from light. The kit is intended for research use only and ships with a complete protocol, supporting laboratories studying enzyme activity, mitochondrial content, and TCA cycle flux in rat model systems.
