The Assay Genie rat SSRP1 immunoassay enables quantitative measurement of Structure Specific Recognition Protein 1, the 81 kDa subunit of the FACT (Facilitates Chromatin Transcription/Replication) complex. FACT operates with its SPT16 partner to disassemble nucleosomes during transcription elongation, DNA replication, and damage repair. Investigators in chromatin biology, cancer research, and DNA damage response fields commonly profile SSRP1 abundance as a marker of FACT complex activity in rodent models. Because FACT is frequently overexpressed in proliferating tumor tissue, SSRP1 is also used as a target in studies evaluating small-molecule FACT inhibitors in preclinical rodent systems.
