Quantitative Measurement of Rat SPARCL1

The Assay Genie Rat SPARCL1 ELISA Kit provides a quantitative immunoassay for measuring SPARC-like protein 1 (SPARCL1), a secreted matricellular glycoprotein of the SPARC family also referred to as Hevin, SC1, or ECM2. SPARCL1 modulates cell-matrix interactions, antagonizes SPARC binding to collagen, and participates in collagen deposition, synaptic stabilization, and tumor-stroma crosstalk. The kit is intended for research use only and supports in vitro investigations.

Validated for use with tissue homogenates, the plate supports 96 assays per kit, enabling parallel processing of experimental replicates, blank wells, and a multi-point standard curve in cardiovascular, fibrotic, or neurobiological rat models. Each kit supplies a pre-coated microplate, lyophilized SPARCL1 standards, biotinylated detection antibody, streptavidin-HRP conjugate, wash buffer, and substrate solution. Reconstituted reagents should be handled according to the enclosed protocol; unopened kit components remain stable under refrigerated storage until the expiration date printed on the label.

Typical applications include profiling SPARCL1 expression in rat models of cardiac remodeling, dermal fibrosis, and tumor microenvironment biology. Researchers investigating ocular disorders such as primary open-angle glaucoma have also employed this assay, where elevated SPARCL1 levels in the trabecular meshwork have been associated with altered extracellular matrix composition and dysregulated outflow facility.

SPARCL1 expression is reduced in many solid tumors and silenced epigenetically in aggressive cancer cell lines, making the kit suitable for oncology studies examining tumor suppression. In neuroscience research, Hevin/SC1 is recognized for bridging pre- and postsynaptic neurons during excitatory synapse formation, and the assay supports investigations into synaptogenesis, glial scar maturation, and recovery from neural injury.
