Description

A sandwich ELISA from Assay Genie designed for the quantitative measurement of Sorbin and SH3 domain-containing protein 1 (SORBS1) in rat serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell culture supernates and other biological fluids. The assay is reactive toward natural and recombinant rat SORBS1 and is intended for research use only.

Reported performance characteristics include a detection range of 0.625-40 ng/mL and a sensitivity of 0.333 ng/mL. Intra-assay precision is 4.9% CV and inter-assay precision is 8.5% CV. Linearity across dilutions of 1:2, 1:4, 1:8 and 1:16 was demonstrated for serum (N=5) at 106-116%, 105-115%, 86-95% and 99-109%; for EDTA plasma (N=5) at 103-115%, 106-118%, 104-114% and 84-95%; and for heparin plasma (N=5) at 96-108%, 98-108%, 87-96% and 103-113%. Mean recovery is 93% (range 87-99%) for serum and 95% (range 89-101%) for plasma.

SORBS1, also known by the synonyms Ponsin and SH3P12 (UniProt P84109), is implicated in cell adhesion and signal transduction and has been associated with cancer, diabetes and cardiovascular disorders. The protein plays a role in the tyrosine phosphorylation of CBL by linking CBL to the insulin receptor, is required for insulin-stimulated glucose transport, and contributes to the formation of actin stress fibers and focal adhesions. Reported subcellular locations include cell junctions, adherens junctions, cell membrane, cytoplasm, cytoskeleton, focal adhesions, and the nucleus/nuclear matrix.
