The target Slc25a5 encodes ADP/ATP translocase 2 (ANT2), a mitochondrial inner membrane transporter that exchanges matrix ATP for cytosolic ADP, coupling oxidative phosphorylation to cellular energy demand. Quantifying ANT2 supports studies of mitochondrial bioenergetics in rat models of metabolic dysfunction, ischemia-reperfusion injury, and tumor metabolism, where altered translocase activity has been reported.
