Serotransferrin — also known as transferrin, siderophilin, beta-1 metal-binding globulin, and liver regeneration-related protein LRRG03 — is a monomeric, secreted protein that binds two Fe(3+) ions in association with the binding of an anion (usually bicarbonate) and carries iron from sites of absorption and heme degradation to those of storage and utilization. The assay shows specificity for natural and recombinant rat serotransferrin and is validated for use with rat serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell culture supernates, and other biological fluids. The product is intended for research use only.
