Regucalcin, also called senescence marker protein-30 (SMP30), is a calcium-binding protein that regulates intracellular calcium signaling and is a recognized marker of hepatocyte aging and oxidative stress in rodent studies. The Assay Genie Rat RGN ELISA Kit delivers a quantitative, research-use-only immunoassay for tracking this analyte in rat experimental specimens.

This 96-assay kit is configured for laboratory research workflows and measures native regucalcin in cleared rat serum-derived and plasma-derived fractions. The workflow uses an antibody-pair-based microplate architecture in which immobilized capture antibodies bind regucalcin from the loaded well, followed by a biotinylated detection antibody and an enzyme conjugate that produces a measurable absorbance shift proportional to analyte concentration.

Typical applications include profiling age-related decline of liver SMP30 expression, evaluating calcium-regulating mechanisms in renal and hepatic tissue, and characterizing metabolic dysfunction in dietary or pharmacological intervention studies. Each kit is supplied with a pre-coated microplate, biotinylated detection antibody, standard diluent, wash buffer, and TMB substrate sufficient for 96 individual determinations when paired with appropriately diluted standards and quality-control samples.

Regucalcin research in rats is particularly relevant to studies of hepatoprotection, osteoporosis, and longevity, where SMP30 expression often declines with age. The assay is intended as a focused tool for tracking regucalcin dynamics across experimental cohorts and complementing gene-expression or histological readouts in tissue-based investigations.
