Description

A Sandwich ELISA from Assay Genie for the quantitative detection of Pulmonary Surfactant-Associated Protein D (SPD) in rat samples. The kit is validated for use with serum, plasma, cell culture supernatant, cell or tissue lysate, and other liquid samples, supporting research into pulmonary surfactant function and respiratory disease.

Reported performance characteristics include a detection range of 78.125-5000 pg/mL and a sensitivity of 46.875 pg/mL. Recovery in serum (n=5) is 85-103% (average 93%), in EDTA plasma (n=5) is 85-99% (average 92%), and in heparin plasma (n=5) is 88-99% (average 94%). Dilutional linearity is demonstrated at 1:2, 1:4 and 1:8: serum 94-105%, 84-100%, 82-93%; EDTA plasma 85-101%, 85-101%, 81-98%; heparin plasma 98-104%, 86-101%, 82-97%. Unopened reagents are stored at 2-8°C for 12 months.

Pulmonary surfactant-associated protein D is a key component of the pulmonary surfactant system, important for maintaining lung function and defence against pulmonary infections. Changes in SPD levels have been linked to lung diseases such as acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) and pulmonary fibrosis, making this assay a useful biomarker tool for studying surfactant biology and potential therapeutic interventions in respiratory conditions.
