Rat Proteolipid Protein 1, Myelin (PLP1) ELISA Kit

A quantitative immunoassay from Assay Genie, this ELISA kit measures rat Proteolipid Protein 1 (PLP1), the predominant transmembrane proteolipid of central nervous system myelin, in tissue homogenates and cell lysates. PLP1 is the most abundant protein in compact myelin and plays a structural role in stabilizing the intraperiod line and maintaining axonal insulation, so quantitative readouts are widely used in studies of demyelination, remyelination, oligodendrocyte differentiation, and rodent models of Pelizaeus-Merzbacher disease and spastic paraplegia type 2.

The kit is supplied formatted for 96 assays with a colorimetric readout, configured for rat reactivity and intended for research use only. Capture antibodies are pre-coated on the plate, samples and standards are added, and bound analyte is detected with a labeled secondary antibody. A standard curve is generated from the supplied reference materials, and absorbance values are interpolated to determine PLP1 concentration in each specimen. Components should be stored refrigerated and protected from light, with aliquoting of working reagents recommended to limit freeze-thaw cycles of any frozen stock solutions.
