Rat Protein C (PROC) ELISA Kit

A quantitative immunoassay from Assay Genie, this kit quantifies Protein C (PROC) in rat plasma to support coagulation and vascular biology research. Protein C is a vitamin K-dependent serine protease zymogen that, upon activation by the thrombin-thrombomodulin complex, inactivates factors Va and VIIIa, restraining thrombin generation throughout the clotting cascade.

Investigators apply the assay in rat models of deep vein thrombosis, disseminated intravascular coagulation, sepsis-associated coagulopathy, and hepatic dysfunction, where diminished circulating PROC reflects impaired synthesis or consumption during microvascular thrombosis. Citrated plasma prepared by centrifugation of whole blood serves as the recommended specimen, allowing serial sampling from individual animals across experimental timepoints.

Each kit ships as a complete package containing a precoated microplate, lyophilized and liquid reagents, a set of calibration standards, and detection antibody. The 96 assays format reserves wells for the standard curve and quality controls. Reconstituted components should be kept refrigerated between uses and shielded from light to preserve activity through the shelf life stated on the label.
