PCSK1, also known as prohormone convertase 1/3 (PC1/3), is a calcium-dependent serine protease that cleaves prohormones such as proinsulin, proglucagon, and proopiomelanocortin (POMC) into bioactive peptide hormones. Dysregulation of this enzyme has been implicated in obesity, type 2 diabetes, and congenital prohormone-processing disorders, making quantitative measurement in rodent models a priority for metabolic research.
This colorimetric ELISA from Assay Genie uses a microplate-based workflow tailored to rat PCSK1 detection, with reactivity demonstrated against rat analytes across multiple specimen matrices. Researchers apply the assay to studies of pancreatic islet function, hypothalamic appetite regulation, and neuroendocrine prohormone maturation pathways. Each kit contains reagents sufficient for 96 individual determinations and is intended for research use only.
