Rat Prokineticin-1 (Prok1) ELISA Kit

Assay Genie offers a Sandwich ELISA kit for the quantitative measurement of rat Prokineticin-1 (Prok1), also known as Endocrine-gland-derived vascular endothelial growth factor (EG-VEGF). The assay uses a colorimetric detection method and is reactive with rat samples. Compatible matrices include serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell culture supernates and other biological fluids. The kit specifically recognises natural and recombinant rat Prokineticin-1, a secreted protein of the prokineticin family with a reported molecular weight of 11,643 Da.

According to the manufacturer's specifications, the kit reports a detection range of 15.6-1000 pg/mL and a sensitivity of 7.9 pg/mL. Precision data include an intra-assay CV of 5.6% and an inter-assay CV of 6.5%. Recovery in serum averaged 97% (range 91-103%) and in plasma averaged 99% (range 93-105%).

Prokineticin-1 potently contracts gastrointestinal smooth muscle and induces proliferation, migration and fenestration in capillary endothelial cells derived from endocrine glands, with little or no effect on other endothelial and non-endothelial cell types. It additionally drives proliferation and differentiation of enteric neural crest cells, promotes neuroblastoma progression, and positively regulates PTGS2 expression and prostaglandin synthesis.
