Rat Procalcitonin ELISA Kit

From Assay Genie, this Sandwich ELISA Kit is designed for the quantitative measurement of procalcitonin in rat samples, including serum, plasma, cell culture supernatant, cell or tissue lysate, and other liquid samples. It uses a double antibody sandwich format with colorimetric detection, making it suited to research into inflammatory and infectious disease models in rats where procalcitonin serves as a biomarker for bacterial infection and for assessing the severity of sepsis in rodents.

The assay reports a sensitivity of 9.375 pg/mL across a working range of 15.625–1000 pg/mL. Linearity at dilutions of 1:2, 1:4, and 1:8 falls within 82–105% for serum, EDTA plasma, and heparin plasma (n = 5 per matrix). Recovery ranges from 85–104% (average 96) for serum, 90–102% (average 95) for EDTA plasma, and 90–102% (average 94) for heparin plasma. Reagents are stored at 2–8°C and remain stable for 12 months under those conditions.

The procedure involves equilibrating reagents and TMB substrate to room temperature, incubating standards and samples on the pre-coated plate at 37°C for 90 minutes, adding biotin-labeled detection antibody for a 60-minute incubation at 37°C, binding HRP-Streptavidin (SABC) for 30 minutes at 37°C, developing color with TMB substrate in the dark for 10–20 minutes, then adding stop solution and reading absorbance at 450 nm immediately.
