The urokinase plasminogen activator receptor (uPAR), encoded by the PLAUR gene, is a glycosylphosphatidylinositol-anchored cell-surface protein that localises urokinase-type plasminogen activator to focus pericellular proteolysis and modulate integrin-mediated adhesion, migration, and chemokine signalling. Soluble uPAR, shed from the cell surface, circulates in plasma and serves as a quantitative biomarker for fibrinolytic activity, inflammatory cell recruitment, and extracellular matrix turnover in rat models of kidney injury, lung fibrosis, atherosclerosis, glomerulonephritis, and tumour invasion.

Assay Genie's quantitative ELISA is supplied as a complete kit containing pre-coated microplate wells, lyophilised recombinant standards, biotinylated detection antibody, streptavidin-HRP conjugate, wash buffer, and TMB substrate. The workflow uses a standard curve of recombinant rat uPAR to interpolate unknown concentrations, with absorbance read on a conventional plate reader after colour development is stopped. Researchers tracking PLAUR upregulation in response to LPS challenge, bleomycin exposure, unilateral ureteral obstruction, or high-fat-diet-induced vascular damage will find the panel suited to longitudinal serum or plasma analysis across treatment groups.

The kit is intended for research use only. Reagents should be stored refrigerated between uses, with repeated freeze-thaw cycles of reconstituted standards avoided to preserve binding activity. Aliquoting standards after reconstitution is recommended to maintain performance across multiple runs.
