Cartilage metabolism and type II collagen turnover research in rodent models relies on quantitative markers of chondrocyte biosynthetic activity. The Rat PIICP (Procollagen II C-Terminal Propeptide) ELISA kit from Assay Genie is supplied in a microplate format supporting 96 determinations per kit and is intended for research use only. PIICP, also referred to as CPII, is the C-terminal propeptide cleaved during maturation of type II procollagen and serves as a circulating indicator of cartilage matrix deposition.

This rat-reactive immunoassay is applied in osteoarthritis models, articular cartilage injury studies, post-traumatic joint degeneration research, and investigations of skeletal development or connective tissue biology. Each kit includes a pre-coated microplate, lyophilized reference standards, biotinylated detection antibody, streptavidin-HRP conjugate, substrate solution, wash buffer, and stop reagent for colorimetric readout on a standard plate reader.

Reagent working solutions and unused strips should be kept refrigerated and protected from light between runs, while the sealed components are shipped cold.
