Secreted by gastric chief cells and by Brunner's glands of the duodenal submucosa, pepsinogen C (PGC) is the inactive zymogen precursor of pepsin C and a recognized marker of gastric mucosal integrity in rodent research. The Rat Pepsinogen C (PGC) ELISA Kit from Assay Genie is a colorimetric immunoassay that quantifies this zymogen in rat-derived specimens, supporting studies of ulcerogenesis, gastritis, Helicobacter infection models, and digestive physiology.

The protocol uses a pre-coated microplate and a standard curve generated from purified rat PGC calibrators, allowing interpolation of unknown sample concentrations. Each kit supports up to 96 determinations. The procedure accepts a range of sample matrices from rat studies, including circulating blood fractions and tissue homogenates prepared from stomach, duodenum, or other digestive tract regions. Detection relies on an enzyme-substrate reaction read on a standard plate reader, providing a quantitative measurement of PGC concentration in each specimen.

Each kit ships with the pre-coated plate, detection antibody vial, calibrated standards, assay diluent, wash buffer concentrate, substrate solution, and stop reagent sufficient for the full plate run. Reagents should be stored refrigerated to preserve activity through the stated shelf life. Intended for research use only and not for clinical or diagnostic procedures. Commonly used in laboratories investigating gastric function, mucosal damage, anti-ulcer drug screening, and biomarker discovery within rat experimental models.
