Rat PAI1/Plasminogen activator inhibitor 1 ELISA Kit

A Sandwich ELISA from Assay Genie designed for the accurate detection of PAI-1 (Plasminogen Activator Inhibitor-1) levels in rat samples, including serum, plasma, cell culture supernatants, cell or tissue lysates, and other liquid samples. The kit uses a double-antibody sandwich format with colorimetric detection and is reported to deliver high sensitivity and specificity, with a stated sensitivity of 0.188 ng/mL and a working range of 0.313–20 ng/mL.

Linearity was demonstrated for serum (1:2: 98–103%, 1:4: 92–105%, 1:8: 86–99%), EDTA plasma (1:2: 83–101%, 1:4: 83–92%, 1:8: 83–101%) and heparin plasma (1:2: 88–98%, 1:4: 82–99%, 1:8: 84–99%). Recovery averages were 96% for serum (n=5), 94% for EDTA plasma (n=5) and 97% for heparin plasma (n=5). The kit is stored at 2–8°C for 12 months. The assay involves equilibration of reagents, a primary incubation at 37°C, biotinylated detection antibody binding, HRP-Streptavidin (SABC) binding, TMB color development in the dark and absorbance reading at 450 nm.

PAI-1 is described as a key regulator of the fibrinolytic system, inhibiting activation of plasminogen and contributing to the regulation of thrombosis and tissue remodeling. Dysregulation of PAI-1 has been implicated in cardiovascular diseases, diabetes and fibrosis, making accurate quantification valuable for research into disease pathogenesis and potential therapeutic interventions.
