Built for quantitative measurement of glucocorticoid receptor (GR) levels in rat-derived samples, this kit from Assay Genie targets NR3C1, the gene encoding the ligand-activated nuclear receptor that binds corticosterone and regulates transcription of genes controlling stress response, glucose homeostasis, and immune signaling. The assay is specific to rat NR3C1, with validation indicating no significant cross-reactivity against non-target species.

Researchers apply this kit to investigate glucocorticoid receptor dynamics across neuroscience, endocrinology, and metabolic disease models. Common applications include profiling GR expression across brain regions, tracking receptor downregulation following chronic stress or corticosterone exposure, and comparing receptor density between experimental groups in hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis studies.

For sample handling, aliquot tissue homogenates and cell lysates into single-use portions and store refrigerated at 2 to 8 °C for short-term use or freeze at -80 °C for longer-term preservation; repeated freeze-thaw cycles can degrade antigen and should be avoided. Each kit is supplied as 96 assays in a sandwich ELISA format with a colorimetric readout measured on a standard microplate reader, providing sufficient wells for samples analyzed in duplicate alongside a standard curve. Intended for research use only.
