Description

Developed by Assay Genie for the quantitative measurement of neuron-specific enolase (NSE) in rat samples, this sandwich ELISA employs a double-antibody format with colorimetric detection read at 450 nm. NSE is a biomarker found in high concentrations in neurons, and changes in its levels have been linked to neurological conditions such as stroke, traumatic brain injury, and neurodegenerative diseases, making the assay relevant for research into neurodegenerative disorders and neuronal injury in animal models.

Validated sample types include serum, plasma, cell culture supernatant, cell or tissue lysates, and other liquid samples. The kit reports a sensitivity of 46.875 pg/mL and a working range of 78.125-5000 pg/mL. Linearity has been demonstrated in serum, EDTA plasma, and heparin plasma across 1:2, 1:4, and 1:8 dilutions, with serum recovery ranging from 89-103% (average 97%), EDTA plasma 85-104% (average 94%), and heparin plasma 91-99% (average 96%). Storage is at 2-8°C for 12 months.

The target is also known by the synonyms ENO2, gamma-Enolase, enolase 2 gamma neuronal, gamma-enolase, neural enolase, and neuron specific gamma enolase, and is associated with UniProt identifier P07323.
