Built around the rat N-methyl-D-aspartate receptor subtype 2A (GluN2A), this Assay Genie ELISA Kit provides quantitative measurement of the NR2A subunit for neuroscience and neuropharmacology research. The kit is supplied as a complete 96 Assays package intended for in vitro laboratory use only.

NMDA receptors are glutamate-gated ion channels central to excitatory neurotransmission, and the NR2A subunit governs developmental switching, synaptic long-term potentiation, and calcium permeability at forebrain synapses. Altered NR2A expression has been reported in published models of cerebral ischemia, traumatic brain injury, schizophrenia-like phenotypes, and chronic pain, making reliable subunit quantification in rat tissues central to preclinical neuroscience workflows.

The kit supports ELISA measurement of cell culture supernatants, tissue homogenates, and lysates prepared from rat brain regions of interest, including cortex and hippocampus. Results are expressed in relative concentration units that can be compared across treatment groups within the same study on a single microplate.

Components are supplied in sealed vials and a microplate, with reagents handled according to the package insert and work performed by trained laboratory personnel using standard biosafety practice.

Typical applications

  • Quantifying NR2A expression in rat cortical and hippocampal tissue homogenates
  • Tracking developmental changes in NMDA receptor subunit composition
  • Comparing NR2A levels across treatment groups in ischemia, neurotrauma, or neuropharmacology studies
  • Supporting cell culture experiments that probe glutamatergic signaling
