The Rat Nociceptin ELISA Kit from Assay Genie is a competitive immunoassay developed for quantitative measurement of nociceptin, also known as Orphanin FQ, a 17-amino acid neuropeptide that acts as the endogenous ligand for the NOP receptor (KOR-3/ORL1). The peptide is widely studied in rodent models of pain perception, anxiety-like behaviour, stress responses, feeding regulation, and reward processing.

Routinely applied to rat-derived matrices, the assay accommodates cell culture supernatants and whole-blood fractions, supporting both in vivo neuroscience experiments and in vitro neuronal cell work. Each kit from Assay Genie contains a pre-coated microplate, lyophilised peptide standards, a biotinylated nociceptin tracer, streptavidin-HRP conjugate, wash buffer, and substrate solution adequate for one analytical run. The competitive reaction relies on endogenous peptide competing with the labelled tracer for antibody binding sites, after which colour development is measured to interpolate sample values.

Beyond tissue homogenates, researchers deploy the kit on conditioned media from primary neuron cultures and on plasma drawn during behavioural paradigms. All components should be kept refrigerated and protected from light between uses; reconstituted standards remain stable through limited freeze-thaw cycles when aliquoted into single-use vials. For research use only — not intended for clinical diagnostics.
