Rat Neurotensin (NT) ELISA Kit

Neurotensin (NT) is a 13-amino acid regulatory peptide secreted by discrete populations of neurons in the central nervous system and by specialized enteroendocrine N-cells of the distal small bowel. It functions as both a neurotransmitter and a gut hormone, modulating dopamine-driven reward circuits, nociceptive signalling, gastric acid secretion, intestinal motility, and the satiety response that follows a lipid-rich meal. The Assay Genie kit provides a quantitative tool for measuring endogenous NT in rat specimens from studies of feeding behaviour, stress-induced intestinal barrier dysfunction, neuropathic pain, and gut–brain axis signalling.

A typical 50 uL sample volume is added to pre-coated microplate wells together with NT-specific antibody, and the enzymatic reaction is read after addition of substrate and stop solution. The microplate configuration supports 96 assays per run, and the kit ships with lyophilised standards, biotinylated detection reagent, streptavidin-HRP, substrate, wash buffer, and stop solution. Reconstituted standards should be aliquoted and stored frozen, while remaining reagents are kept refrigerated at 4°C and protected from light to preserve enzymatic activity.
