Neuropathy Target Esterase (NTE), also known as PNPLA6 (patatin-like phospholipase domain-containing protein 6), is a key enzyme in neurotoxicology research. This colorimetric ELISA Kit from Assay Genie enables quantitative measurement of NTE in rat samples. NTE is the molecular target of organophosphate compounds that trigger organophosphate-induced delayed neuropathy (OPIDN), and mutations in the PNPLA6 gene are linked to several hereditary neurological disorders, including Boucher-Neuhäuser syndrome, Gordon Holmes syndrome, Oliver-McFarlane syndrome, Laurence-Moon syndrome, and hereditary spastic paraplegia.

Configured for 96 assays, the kit is validated for use with rat tissue homogenates and supports research in neurotoxicology, pesticide exposure studies, and lipid metabolism in neural tissue.

Typical research applications include:

  • Studies of organophosphate pesticide exposure and OPIDN
  • Investigation of NTE/PNPLA6-related neurological disease mechanisms
  • Examination of phospholipase function in peripheral nerve tissue
  • Drug screening efforts for neuroprotective compounds
  • Characterization of NTE activity in experimental rat models

For research use only. The reactivity of this immunoassay is characterized specifically for rat samples, supporting reproducible quantification across neuroscience and toxicology workflows.
