Rat Nestin (Nes) ELISA Kit

This sandwich ELISA kit from Assay Genie is designed for the quantitative measurement of rat nestin in serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell culture supernates and other biological fluids. Nestin is an intermediate filament protein specifically expressed in neuroepithelial stem cells and is described as a marker for neural stem and progenitor cells. The target protein, encoded by the gene Nes, has a listed molecular weight of 198,623 Da (UniProt P21263) and is reported to be required for brain and eye development, as well as for the survival, renewal and mitogen-stimulated proliferation of neural progenitor cells.

Key assay performance figures quoted by the manufacturer include a detection range of 0.156–10 ng/mL, a sensitivity of 0.086 ng/mL, an intra-assay CV of 4.5% and an inter-assay CV of 9.6%. The kit detects both natural and recombinant rat nestin. Recovery is reported as 100% (range 94–106%) for serum and 102% (range 96–108%) for plasma, with linearity data provided for serum, EDTA plasma and heparin plasma across serial dilutions.
