Description

Manufactured by Assay Genie, this colorimetric Sandwich ELISA Kit is intended for the quantitative measurement of Microtubule-associated protein 2 (Map2; synonyms MAP-2, Mtap2) in rat samples. It reacts specifically with natural and recombinant rat MAP2 and is validated for use with serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell culture supernates and other biological fluids.

MAP2 is a member of the microtubule-associated protein (MAP) family and is involved in regulating microtubule stability and neuronal development, with expression reported at high levels in neural tissue and the prostate. Its dysregulation has been linked to conditions such as Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease and other neurodegenerative disorders, making it a useful biomarker for neuroscience research. MAPs are thought to stabilize microtubules against depolymerization and exert a stiffening effect on microtubules, while MAP2 has been shown to interact with KNDC1 (via KIND2), enhancing MAP2 phosphorylation and localizing KNDC1 to dendrites. The associated protein has a reported molecular weight of 60.0 kDa.

Reported performance figures include a detection range of 0.156-10ng/mL and a sensitivity of 0.078ng/mL, with intra-assay CV, inter-assay CV, linearity and recovery data supplied with the kit. Subcellular localization covers the cytoplasm, cytoskeleton, cell projections and dendrites, and the UniProt accession for the rat target is P15146. The kit is for research use only.
