MAOB (monoamine oxidase B) is a flavin adenine dinucleotide-dependent enzyme anchored to the outer mitochondrial membrane, where it catalyzes the oxidative deamination of biogenic amines such as dopamine, phenylethylamine, and benzylamine. Quantifying MAOB expression in rat models is widely applied to Parkinson's disease research, mechanistic studies of irreversible inhibitors such as selegiline and rasagiline, and broader neuropharmacology investigations. The Assay Genie kit supports these in vitro workflows with a pre-coated microplate and a typical sample volume of 50 uL per well; reagents should be stored at -20 degrees C prior to first use and protected from light.
