Description

A high-quality sandwich ELISA kit from Assay Genie designed for the quantitative measurement of Lecithin-cholesterol acyltransferase (LCAT) in rat samples. The kit uses a double-antibody sandwich format with colorimetric detection and is suitable for serum, plasma, cell culture supernatant, cell or tissue lysate, and other liquid samples.

According to manufacturer data, sensitivity is 0.375 ng/mL with a working range of 0.625–40 ng/mL. Storage is recommended at 2–8°C for 12 months. Reported recovery ranges from spiked samples are 85–105% for serum (average 94%), 92–98% for EDTA plasma (average 96%) and 85–100% for heparin plasma (average 97%). Linearity in diluted serum, EDTA plasma and heparin plasma falls between 81% and 102% across 1:2, 1:4 and 1:8 dilutions.

The assay procedure involves sequential incubations at 37°C with a biotinylated detection antibody and HRP-streptavidin, followed by TMB substrate development and absorbance reading at 450 nm. LCAT is an enzyme involved in the conversion of free cholesterol to cholesteryl esters and the maintenance of cholesterol homeostasis, with dysregulation implicated in cardiovascular and metabolic disorders, making this kit useful for research into lipid metabolism in rat models.
