Rat Lactoferrin ELISA Kit

Assay Genie provides a Sandwich ELISA kit configured for the quantitative measurement of lactoferrin in rat samples. The assay uses a double-antibody sandwich format with colorimetric detection and is validated for serum, plasma, cell culture supernatant, cell or tissue lysate, and other liquid samples.

The kit delivers a sensitivity of 75 pg/mL with a standard range of 125–8000 pg/mL, and components should be stored at 2–8°C for 12 months. The procedure involves equilibrating reagents, loading standards and samples for a 90-minute primary incubation at 37°C, biotin-labeled detection antibody incubation for 60 minutes at 37°C, HRP-streptavidin binding for 30 minutes at 37°C, TMB color development in the dark for 10–20 minutes, and absorbance reading at 450 nm immediately after adding the stop solution.

Validated linearity spans 80–101% across 1:2 to 1:8 dilutions of serum, EDTA plasma, and heparin plasma samples (n=5). Recovery averages 98% in serum (range 95–105%), 94% in EDTA plasma (range 85–105%), and 94% in heparin plasma (range 85–104%). Lactoferrin is described as a multifunctional protein with antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, and immunomodulatory activities relevant to research on gut health, immune function, and wound healing, making it a useful biomarker for studies of infection, inflammation, and gastrointestinal disorders.
