Keratin 1 (KRT1) is a type II cytokeratin that forms the intermediate filament network of keratinized epithelial cells, with particular abundance in the suprabasal layers of the epidermis where it supports barrier integrity and mechanical resilience. The Assay Genie rat KRT1 ELISA kit is configured for quantitative measurement of this keratin in rat-derived specimens, supporting investigators who study epidermal maturation, cutaneous barrier function, and keratinocyte biology in rodent models.

This immunoassay is intended for research use only and fits dermatology, wound healing, and skin toxicology workflows where keratinocyte differentiation is being tracked. Compatible specimen types include serum samples; plasma samples; tissue homogenates; and related matrices collected from rat sources, giving flexibility across terminal sampling and longitudinal study designs. The plate-based colorimetric read-out integrates readily with standard microplate readers used in routine laboratory settings.

Each kit provides reagents for 96 assays in a single microplate, offering sufficient throughput for mid-sized cohort comparisons or time-course experiments in skin biology research. Reagents should be handled per the package insert and stored under conditions appropriate for immunoassay components to preserve binding activity across the workflow. Researchers investigating epithelial stress responses, barrier disruption, or keratin network remodeling in rat skin will value this reagent as part of their analytical panel.
