IL-33 is a member of the IL-1 family that localizes to the nucleus in healthy cells but is rapidly released as an alarmin following tissue injury, mechanical stress, or necrotic cell death, where it signals through the ST2 receptor to amplify type 2 cytokine production, eosinophil recruitment, and mucosal inflammation.

The kit is validated for measuring native IL-33 in rat-derived samples including serum specimens, plasma, tissue homogenates from inflamed or injured organs, cell lysates, and cell culture supernatant fractions harvested from stimulated primary cells or relevant cell lines.
