Intestinal fatty acid binding protein (IFABP or FABP2) is involved in fatty acid absorption and transport in the intestines. Elevated levels have been associated with intestinal inflammation, ischemia and other gastrointestinal disorders, making it a useful biomarker in rat models of these conditions.
