Description

Designed for the quantitative measurement of LIPE (also known as HSL) in rat samples, this Sandwich ELISA from Assay Genie uses colorimetric detection, with a detection range of 0.312–20 ng/mL and a sensitivity of 0.175 ng/mL. The assay is validated for serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell culture supernates and other biological fluids. Specificity covers natural and recombinant rat Hormone-sensitive lipase. Reported reproducibility values are 5.6% intra-assay CV and 8.8% inter-assay CV.

Hormone-sensitive lipase is a lipolytic enzyme that plays a rate-limiting role in triglyceride lipolysis. In adipose tissue and heart, it primarily hydrolyzes stored triglycerides to free fatty acids, while in steroidogenic tissues, it principally converts cholesteryl esters to free cholesterol for steroid hormone production. The protein is found in the high-density caveolae and translocates to the cytoplasm upon insulin stimulation; it interacts with PTRF in the adipocyte cytoplasm and with PLIN5. As a key player in lipid metabolism and energy balance, LIPE is investigated as a biomarker in metabolic disorders such as obesity, diabetes and cardiovascular disease. For research use only.
