Description

From Assay Genie, this Sandwich ELISA (Double Antibody) is intended for the quantitative measurement of Hmox1/HSP32, also known as heme oxygenase-1 (HO-1) and HMOX1, in rat samples. The enzyme's regulatory role in oxidative stress, inflammation, and cell signalling makes it a valuable biomarker in research areas such as cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and neurodegenerative disorders, and the analyte is catalogued under UniProt P06762 within Cell Death research.

The assay is colorimetric, with detection performed by measuring absorbance at 450 nm after TMB substrate development. It has a sensitivity of 0.188 ng/mL and a working range of 0.313-20 ng/mL. Compatible sample types include serum, plasma, cell culture supernatant, cell or tissue lysate, and other liquid samples. Recovery is reported as 86-104% (average 94%) for serum, 89-101% (average 93%) for EDTA plasma, and 88-105% (average 96%) for heparin plasma, while linearity across serial dilutions falls between 80% and 105% for serum, EDTA plasma, and heparin plasma. Kits are stored at 2-8°C for 12 months.

Published studies cited by Assay Genie include work on cyclophosphamide-induced ovarian toxicity (Aziz et al., Toxicology Mechanisms and Methods 2020), streptozotocin-induced diabetic testicular damage (Aziz et al., Pharmacological Reports 2020), doxorubicin acute toxicity cardioprotection (Waz et al., Toxicology Mechanisms and Methods 2021), methotrexate tissue damage (Kamel et al., Immunopharmacology and Immunotoxicology 2021), 5-fluorouracil hepatotoxicity (Khalaf et al., Environmental Science and Pollution Research 2022), indomethacin gastric injury (Khalaf et al., Journal of Biochemical and Molecular Toxicology 2022), and testicular torsion (Abu-Baih et al., Scientific Reports 2024).
