GADD45a, also known as DDIT1, is an ~18 kDa (165 amino acid) acidic nuclear protein encoded by the rat GADD45a gene (NCBI Gene ID 25163; UniProt P10361). It acts as a downstream effector of p53 and is induced by DNA-damaging agents, UV irradiation, and oxidative stress, with established roles in G2/M cell cycle arrest, nucleotide excision repair, and apoptosis. The protein is a widely used biomarker in genotoxicity testing, cancer research, and cellular stress studies. The kit from Assay Genie supports quantitative measurement of rat GADD45a across tissue homogenates, cell lysates, and other sample types relevant to DNA damage signaling, chemoresistance, and p53 pathway investigations. It is supplied in a microplate format and is intended for research use only.
