Rat Glutathione Synthetase (GSS) ELISA Kit

Glutathione synthetase (GSS) catalyzes the ATP-dependent ligation of γ-glutamylcysteine and glycine to produce glutathione (GSH), the principal low-molecular-weight thiol antioxidant that protects cells against reactive oxygen species. Because GSS expression and activity govern cellular GSH capacity, accurate quantitation of the enzyme is central to studies of redox homeostasis, phase II xenobiotic detoxification, hepatic and renal glutathione turnover, and disease models involving oxidative stress, including neurodegeneration, acetaminophen-induced hepatotoxicity, and pulmonary or cardiac ischemia-reperfusion injury.

The Rat Glutathione Synthetase (GSS) ELISA Kit from Assay Genie is a quantitative immunoassay that measures GSS in rat-derived specimens. Each kit includes reagents sufficient for 96 assays performed on a standard microplate, with a colorimetric readout captured on a conventional plate reader. Validated sample matrices include serum-type preparations, plasma-type preparations, tissue homogenates, and cell lysates, enabling both cell culture experiments and in vivo animal studies across hepatic, neural, renal, and pulmonary tissues.
