Quantitative measurement of the modifier subunit of glutamate-cysteine ligase in rat samples is enabled by this ELISA Kit from Assay Genie. GCLM partners with the catalytic subunit GCLC to form the heterodimeric enzyme that catalyzes the first and rate-limiting step of glutathione biosynthesis, and tracking its expression offers a window onto cellular antioxidant capacity and redox homeostasis under basal and challenged conditions.
The kit is configured for 96 reactions on a standard microplate and is validated for use with tissue homogenate samples. It fits into workflows that probe Nrf2-driven transcriptional responses, glutathione depletion in models of hepatotoxicity such as acetaminophen challenge, and redox perturbations in neural and pulmonary tissue, generating readouts that complement Western blot and qPCR data on the same experimental groups.
Intended for research use only, the assay supplies a quantitative tool for laboratories studying oxidative stress, phase II detoxification, and the cellular thiol redox balance. Standards and detection reagents are provided in quantities sufficient to generate a calibration curve and to measure unknown samples in duplicate or triplicate across the plate.
