Description

A competitive immunoassay from Assay Genie for the quantitative measurement of gastrin in rat samples. The assay uses a colorimetric detection method on a microplate pre-coated with antigen and is validated for serum, plasma, cell culture supernatant, cell or tissue lysate, and other liquid samples. The standard curve covers a range of 0.313–20 pg/mL with a sensitivity of 0.188 pg/mL. Gastrin (UniProt P80020; synonyms: GT) is a hormone that regulates gastric acid secretion and digestive function, and abnormal circulating levels have been associated with gastrinomas, peptic ulcers and gastroesophageal reflux disease, making it a useful biomarker in gastrointestinal research.

Reported linearity across 1:2 to 1:8 dilutions is 90–102% / 86–105% / 85–96% for serum (n=10), 85–101% / 83–96% / 82–100% for EDTA plasma (n=10), and 80–99% / 86–98% / 81–92% for heparin plasma (n=10). Spike-and-recovery averages 95% in serum (range 88–105%), 98% in EDTA plasma (87–105%) and 93% in heparin plasma (85–105%). The sealed kit should be stored at 2–8°C and not cryopreserved.
