The Rat GALT ELISA Kit from Assay Genie enables quantitative measurement of Galactose-1-Phosphate Uridylyltransferase, a key enzyme in the Leloir pathway that interconverts UDP-glucose and galactose-1-phosphate. The protein is most abundant in hepatic tissue, and the kit supports rat-model research into classic galactosemia (Type I), galactose catabolism, and metabolic hepatology. Sample inputs include tissue homogenates, cell lysates, and similar preparations from rat specimens. Each kit is supplied with a pre-coated microplate, lyophilized standards, biotinylated detection antibody, streptavidin-HRP conjugate, TMB substrate, and wash buffer sufficient for 96 individual determinations. Recommended handling is to refrigerate the sealed kit at 4°C; reconstituted standards and working antibody should be aliquoted and frozen at -20°C, with care to limit freeze-thaw cycles. Researchers load approximately 50 uL of sample and diluted standard per well, incubate, wash, and develop color before reading absorbance on a standard microplate reader. The kit is configured for in vitro, research use only applications such as pathway studies, neonatal screening model development, and evaluation of experimental therapies targeting carbohydrate metabolism in rodents.
