Focal Adhesion Kinase (FAK), encoded by the PTK2 gene, is a ~125 kDa non-receptor cytoplasmic tyrosine kinase that localizes to focal adhesions and acts as a key integrator of integrin-mediated signal transduction. Autophosphorylation at Tyr397 generates a docking site for Src family kinases, triggering downstream PI3K/Akt and MAPK cascades that regulate cell adhesion, spreading, motility, proliferation, and survival.
Aberrant FAK signaling is implicated in tumor invasion, metastasis, angiogenesis, and impaired wound repair, making quantitative protein measurement broadly relevant to oncology, cardiovascular biology, and tissue regeneration research. The Assay Genie kit is configured for rat tissue homogenates and cell lysates, employing a pre-coated microplate with chromogenic substrate development. Each kit supplies standards, capture and detection antibodies, wash buffer, and substrate solution, with recommended sample volumes around 100 µL per well.
Intended for in vitro research use only, the kit supports signaling pathway studies and pharmacodynamic profiling of FAK inhibitors.
