Rat Ferroportin (FPN) ELISA Kit

Ferroportin (FPN, also called SLC40A1) is the only known mammalian iron-export protein, sitting on the basolateral membrane of duodenal enterocytes, on macrophages that recycle iron from senescent red blood cells, and on hepatocytes that release stored iron. The hepcidin hormone binds FPN to trigger its internalization and degradation, which is why FPN abundance in tissue and cell samples is widely studied as a readout of systemic iron balance in rat models of anemia, hemochromatosis, and inflammation-driven iron sequestration.
