Rat Fatty acid desaturase 3 (Fads3) ELISA Kit

The Assay Genie Sandwich ELISA Kit is designed for the quantitative detection of rat Fatty acid desaturase 3 (Fads3), also known as Delta(13) fatty acid desaturase. Using a colorimetric detection method, the assay is reactive with rat samples and recognises both natural and recombinant rat Fads3. Validated sample types include serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell culture supernates and other biological fluids, and the kit is intended for cardiovascular research applications.

The kit provides a detection range of 0.156–10 ng/mL with a sensitivity of 0.056 ng/mL. Fads3 is an endoplasmic reticulum multi-pass membrane protein that acts as a methyl-end fatty acyl-CoA desaturase, introducing a cis double bond between the preexisting double bond and the terminal methyl group of the fatty acyl chain. Specifically, it desaturates (11E)-octadecenoate (trans-vaccenoate) at carbon 13 to generate (11E,13Z)-octadecadienoate, likely participating in the biohydrogenation pathway of linoleic acid (18:2n-6).
