Rat Farnesyl Diphosphate Synthase (FDPS) ELISA Kit

FDPS is a key branch-point enzyme in the mevalonate pathway, catalyzing the sequential head-to-tail condensation of isopentenyl pyrophosphate and dimethylallyl pyrophosphate to generate geranyl pyrophosphate and ultimately farnesyl pyrophosphate, a precursor required for cholesterol synthesis, protein prenylation, ubiquinone assembly, and dolichol production.

Assays are particularly useful in bone metabolism studies, where FDPS serves as the molecular target of nitrogen-containing bisphosphonate drugs such as zoledronate and alendronate that are widely studied in osteoporosis and skeletal research models. The kit also supports investigations into statin pharmacology, mevalonate-pathway disorders, and dysregulated lipid metabolism observed in selected cancer and inflammatory models.
