Description

Assay Genie provides a Sandwich ELISA Kit designed for the quantitative measurement of Eukaryotic translation initiation factor 3 subunit A (Eif3a) in rat samples. The assay targets natural and recombinant rat Eif3a and is reactive with rat species. It is validated for use with serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell culture supernates and other biological fluids, supporting a range of experimental designs in epigenetics research.

The kit uses a colorimetric detection method with a detection range of 0.156-10ng/mL and a sensitivity of 0.067ng/mL. EIF3A (also known as eIF-3-theta or Eif3s10) is an RNA-binding component of the eukaryotic translation initiation factor 3 (eIF-3) complex, which is required for several steps in the initiation of protein synthesis. The eIF-3 complex associates with the 40S ribosome and facilitates the recruitment of eIF-1, eIF-1A, eIF-2:GTP:methionyl-tRNAi and eIF-5 to form the 43S pre-initiation complex. It also stimulates mRNA recruitment and scanning for AUG recognition, and is required for disassembly and recycling of post-termination ribosomal complexes.

The target protein has a molecular weight of 163,196 Da (UniProt Q1JU68) and localises to the cytoplasm. For research use only.
