Description

Manufactured by Assay Genie, the Rat Enoyl-CoA hydratase, mitochondrial (Echs1) ELISA Kit is a Sandwich ELISA designed for the quantitative detection of ECHS1 in rat samples. The kit is suitable for use with serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell culture supernates and other biological fluids, and is specific for natural and recombinant rat Enoyl-CoA hydratase, mitochondrial.

The assay has a detection range of 78-5000pg/mL and a sensitivity of 39pg/mL. ECHS1 (also known as Enoyl-CoA hydratase 1, Short-chain enoyl-CoA hydratase, or SCEH) is encoded by the Echs1 gene (NCBI Gene ID: 140547; UniProt P14604) and has a molecular weight of 31,516 Da. According to the source, the enzyme "processes straight-chain enoyl-CoA thioesters from C4 up to at least C16, although with decreasing catalytic rate. Has high substrate specificity for crotonyl-CoA and moderate specificity for acryloyl-CoA, 3-methylcrotonyl-CoA and methacrylyl-CoA. It is noteworthy that binds tiglyl-CoA, but hydrates only a small amount of this substrate." The native protein is a homohexamer (dimer of trimers) localised to the mitochondrion matrix.

Marketed for cardiovascular research, the kit is intended for research use only.
