Rat Endothelin 2 (EDN2) ELISA Kit

Endothelin-2 is a 21-amino acid vasoactive peptide involved in vasoconstriction and vascular tone regulation, and the Assay Genie competitive immunoassay kit is purpose-built to quantify endogenous rat EDN2 across a panel of specimen types. Endothelin-2 belongs to a small family of related isoforms (alongside EDN1 and EDN3) that signal through ETA and ETB G-protein-coupled receptors, and altered EDN2 expression has been reported in rat models of hypertension, ischemic injury, and inflammatory disease. The kit is supplied as 96 assays with an absorbance-based readout and accommodates rat-derived inputs including tissue homogenates, cell lysates, cell culture supernatants, and serum or plasma, making it applicable to whole-organism physiology as well as cell-based signalling studies.

The protocol follows a competitive binding format in which EDN2 present in the sample competes with a conjugated reference peptide for binding to a capture antibody immobilised on the plate. After washing, a substrate reaction generates a measurable signal that is inversely related to the concentration of EDN2 in the sample, and quantitation is achieved against a standard curve run on the same plate. This format is particularly useful for detecting small vasoactive peptides that may be difficult to sandwich with two antibodies.
