Deoxycytidine kinase is a key enzyme involved in the activation of nucleoside analog drugs used in cancer chemotherapy. It plays a critical role in the conversion of prodrugs into their active form, which can inhibit DNA synthesis and cell division in cancer cells. Monitoring DCK levels can therefore provide insights into drug efficacy and resistance mechanisms in cancer treatment.

Reported performance specifications include a sensitivity of 0.188 ng/mL and a measuring range of 0.313-20 ng/mL. The kit accepts serum, plasma, cell culture supernatant, cell or tissue lysate, and other liquid sample types, and is stored at 2-8°C for 12 months. Linearity in serum (n=5) was 94-105%, 85-101%, and 85-105% at 1:2, 1:4, and 1:8 dilutions, respectively; EDTA plasma (n=5) gave 89-100%, 92-101%, and 88-101%; heparin plasma (n=5) gave 82-98%, 80-98%, and 82-88%. Recovery ranged from 89-101% (average 94%) in serum, 86-103% (average 91%) in EDTA plasma, and 85-103% (average 92%) in heparin plasma.
