Description

Manufactured by Assay Genie, this Sandwich ELISA is intended for the quantitative detection of the rat D(2) dopamine receptor (DRD2). The assay is reactive with rat samples and validated for use with serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell culture supernates and other biological fluids. Specificity has been confirmed against the natural and recombinant rat D(2) dopamine receptor.

Performance characteristics include a detection range of 0.156-10 ng/mL and a sensitivity of 0.081 ng/mL. Reproducibility is supported by an intra-assay CV of 4.4% and an inter-assay CV of 8.5%. Linearity was verified across serial dilutions: serum returned 104-115%, 103-112%, 91-101% and 94-104% at 1:2, 1:4, 1:8 and 1:16; EDTA plasma 99-109%, 97-106%, 92-103% and 91-103%; heparin plasma 109-120%, 99-109%, 96-106% and 92-101%. Recovery averaged 98% (92-104%) for serum and 100% (94-106%) for plasma.

DRD2 is a dopamine receptor whose activity is mediated by G proteins which inhibit adenylyl cyclase. The protein localises to the cell membrane as a multi-pass membrane protein, with UniProt accession P61169 and a molecular weight of 50,904 Da. It forms homo- and heterooligomers with DRD4 and interacts with HTR2A, CADPS, CADPS2, KCNA2, GPRASP1, PPP1R9B, CLIC6 and ARRB2. Applications fall within the neurosciences research area, supporting studies of G-protein-coupled signalling, movement disorders, schizophrenia and drug addiction. The kit is for research use only.
